Mechanics Cooperative Bank recently awarded $20,000 in scholarships to 20 area students who have excelled in academics, athletics and community service to help them pursue their higher education goals.

“Students like these are prime examples of why we continue to offer the Mechanics Cooperative Bank Scholarship program annually,” said Mechanics Cooperative Bank President and CEO Joseph T. Baptista Jr. in a prepared statement. “Their hard work and dedication to education, community, and future accomplishments are all values we appreciate here at the bank. We are proud of each recipient’s impressive high school career and wish them all continued success in the next phase of their education.”

The 2022 Mechanics Cooperative Bank Scholarship recipients are:

– Elijah Lazaro, of Argosy Collegiate Charter High School, studying Nursing at UMass Dartmouth;

– Avery Laranjo, of Bristol Plymouth Regional Tech, studying in Biomedical Sciences at the University of New Hampshire;

– Landon Him, of Bristol Plymouth Regional Tech, studying Business/Economics and Engineering at Dartmouth College;

– Greta Costello, of Bishop Conolly High School, studying Foreign Affairs and Diplomacy at Middlebury College;

– Rachel Dias, of Bishop Conolly High School, studying Sports Management and Marketing  at Stonehill College;

– Isabella Manchester, of Case High School, studying Tisch School of Arts at New York University;

– Ethan Gonsalves, of Case High School, studying Criminal Justice, Forensics and Law Enforcement at Bridgewater State College;

– Jason Arruda, of Case High School, studying Pharmacy at University of Rhode Island;

– Victoria Perry was Homeschooled with duel enrollment at Bristol Community College. She is studying Architecture at the Naval Academy;

– Molly Rioux, of Dartmouth High School, studying Nursing at Simmons University;

– Ella Gesner, of Dighton Rehoboth High School, studying Nursing at Endicott College;

– Soleei Guasp, of Durfee High School, studying Computational Biology at Harvard University;

– Deysia Andrade, of Greater New Bedford Vocational Technical High School, studying Music at Berkley College;

– Philip Tran, of New Bedford High School, Computer Science at Brown University;

– Sydney Colson, of New Bedford High School, studying Social Welfare at Gordon College;

– Summer Bejarano, of Silver Like High School, studying Education with a minor in Youth Ministry at Liberty University;
