Taunton, MA: Mechanics Cooperative Bank has committed $5,000 in support of the Boys & Girls Club of Taunton. This gift will go directly toward the Club’s emergency building repair fund.
Joseph T. Baptista, Jr., President and CEO of Mechanics Cooperative Bank said, “When the Club started the process to raise these required funds, Mechanics Cooperative Bank was one of the first organizations that committed. We are a proud member of the Taunton community and understand the direct and positive impact the Club has on their members. We are a better City for having a Boys and Girls Club and as a local community bank, and community partner, it was our pleasure to help.” The Boys and Girls Club of Taunton gives youth in the Greater Taunton Region a sense of hope, belonging, and purpose, as well as the skills they need to overcome life’s challenges and give back to their community. They aim for all of their members to complete high school and have access to a post-secondary education. In partnership with our community, and organizations like Mechanics Cooperative Bank, they will continue to improve the quality of life in our community and provide increased opportunity of success for their members. The Boys & Girls Club of Taunton, and their dedicated staff, will continue their commitment to their members by:
- Providing a safe place to play, discover, learn, serve and dream.
- Graduating 100% of their members from high school and assisting with college awareness, access and success.
- Modeling responsible, caring and productive behavior.
- Efficiently using their resources (both human and capital) to be outstanding stewards of the public trust.
The “Clubhouse” (31 Court Street) is open every day after school and during the majority of school vacations. Club Members may drop in at any time to engage in supervised activities led by their caring staff. In addition to serving as a daily drop-in facility for young people, the Boys & Girls Club of Taunton offers a licensed Child Care program, several youth Sports Leagues, the Tiger Sharks Swim Team and Swim Lessons. Each summer the Club also operates Summer Camp at Lewis Park, a fantastic day camp facility located on 45 acres at 388 Harvey Street in Taunton.
“Without this financial support and the commitment of local businesses like Mechanics Cooperative Bank, and their President Joseph T. Baptista Jr., the Club could not complete much needed building repairs in a timely manner.” said Jill Precopio, Executive Director of the Boys & Girls Club of Taunton. “We could not be more thankful to have a great local partner like Mechanics Cooperative Bank and appreciate their continued generosity at such an important time of year.”
