When Mechanics Cooperative Bank began discussing ideas for a new community based charitable program, we wanted something innovative, mutually beneficial for all and of course, fun. So, we’re proud to announce that the bank and our staff created “Jeans Fridays for Charity,” and we are thrilled to report this dress-down themed initiative raised over $12,000 in 2020!

Our employees that enrolled in the Jeans Fridays for Charity were allowed to dress down and wear jeans each Friday throughout the year and their charitable contribution was made via payroll deduction.

Mechanics Cooperative Bank agreed to match all employee donations raised throughout the calendar year, resulting in over $12,000 to benefit local nonprofits!

The final donations were then decided by a vote from all those employees enrolled in the program throughout the year, and we are happy to announce the three winning organizations are St Jude’s Children’s’ Research Hospital, the Children’s Advocacy Center of Bristol County and Forever Paws Animal Shelter. Each organization received a $4,000 gift from Mechanics and their employees.

“Our employees really stepped up to the challenge this past year and helped raise $12,000 for these amazing organizations” said Joe Baptista, President & CEO of Mechanics Cooperative Bank. “Community banking is all about giving back and our employees exemplify exactly that — helping make our ‘Let’s Keep it Local!’ philosophy a reality.”

Thank you to all of our employees who participated in the Jeans Friday for Charity Program to benefit local nonprofits.
