Mechanics Cooperative Bank Board of Directors and Executive Leadership Team are pleased to announce the promotion of Lawrence Fernandes to Branch Manager of their Somerset Location.  As Branch Manager for Mechanics Cooperative Bank, Mr. Fernandes will be responsible for the day-to-day oversight and administration of the Bank’s branch operations including sales and customer service.
Executive Vice President and Director of Retail Banking for Mechanics Cooperative Bank, Deborah A. Grimes, stated “We are excited to welcome Mr. Fernandes to the Bank’s Retail Team and are pleased to have his community banking experience working on our behalf. Lawrence’s commitment to customer service and strong communication skills will add immediate value to the organization.  We are confident his addition to our staff will help continue to grow the Somerset branch.”
Lawrence Fernandes joins Mechanics Cooperative Bank with over ten (10) years of community banking experience.  He began his banking career as a teller and quickly moved into a supervisory position.  In 2009 Lawrence was promoted to Branch Assistant where he was responsible for daily branch activities including mortgage lending support, sales activity and community relations.  In 2010 Mr. Fernandes was promoted again to the position of Assistant Branch Manager.  During this time in his career he met and exceeded the required sales goals, coordinated branch staffing, managed compliance and regulatory requirements for his location, maintained a NMLS registration and acted as a Massachusetts Notary Public.

 

Mr. Fernandes will spearhead the United Way Capital Campaign for the town of Somerset in 2016.  He is a graduate of Durfee High School and attended Bristol Community College in Fall River, MA in 2009 with a major in Banking Financial Services. He is currently a student at New England School for Financial Studies at Babson College and is set to graduate June, 2016.

 

Mr. Fernandes is currently a resident of Fall River, MA. where he lives with his son Lawrence Jr.
