TAUNTON, MASSACHUSETTS: The Mechanics Cooperative Bank Board of Directors and Executive Leadership Team are pleased to announce the appointment of Maria T. Botelho as Vice President, Commercial Loan Officer.  The Bank is proud to welcome Mrs. Botelho and excited to add her wealth of experience, knowledge and business development skills to our team.

Mrs. Botelho has been in the banking industry for over 20 years with experience on both the retail and lending side of the business. She began her career as a retail banking employee serving in many customer service capacities before being named Vice President, Branch Manager and Business Development Officer for Webster Bank in 2005.  She had great success in her management leading to the distinction of “Top Branch Manager” for the company with tremendous growth in both personal and business relationships.

In 2010 she was named Vice President of Business Banking where she was tasked with building a business loan portfolio and introducing cash management services to the institutions largest depositors. Her continued success led to a new position in 2013 as Vice President and Small Business Sales Director where she was responsible for the Southern and Western areas of New England while managing the sales efforts of thirty-five relationship managers.

Maria then took advantage of an opportunity at Santander, US in Providence, RI where she was named Vice President, Small Business Area Manager working in a similar capacity to support existing customers and build additional business.

In 2016 Mrs. Botelho was named Vice President, Commercial Loan Officer for Bank Newport. She was charged with actively developing new commercial loan business.  Her extensive experience building customer relationships made her a solid contributor to the team and led to this opportunity here at Mechanics Cooperative Bank.

Mrs. Botelho is a resident of Barrington, RI and is actively seeking new, local opportunities for community involvement and Bank participation.
