TAUNTON, MASSACHUSETTS: The Mechanics Cooperative Bank Board of Directors and Executive Leadership Team are pleased to announce the promotion of Thomas Steele to Senior Vice President, Chief Technology Officer. The bank is excited to award Tom for is hard work, dedication and significant expertise.

President and CEO of Mechanics Cooperative Bank, Joseph T. Baptista Jr. commented “Tom’s experience, and knowledge in the field of IT have made him an invaluable resource to the bank and the perfect candidate for our new CTO position. Tom’s role is one of the most critical at our organization with information security and customer service being our top priorities. We look forward to Tom’s continued contributions and the significant impact he will have on the future growth and expansion of the bank.”

In his new role as CTO, Mr. Steele will lead all IT operations for the bank including security, design, development and implementation of information systems, applications, IOT, cloud, infrastructure, and communications. In addition, Tom will chair the Information Technology Steering Committee.

Mr. Steele began his career in 1996 with Information Resources Inc. as an Information Architect. He transitioned into IT managed services in 2007 working for CBE Technologies as a Senior Systems Engineer and NWN Corporation out of Waltham, MA as a Practice Manager. With over 25 years of experience in technology, Tom has provided innovative business solutions for financial intuitions throughout New England. Tom is also a Certified Engineer in Microsoft, Cisco, VMware, and Veeam.

Prior to being appointed CTO, Mr. Steele was the First Vice President of Information Technology for Mechanics Cooperative Bank since 2015.

Mr. Steele has a Bachelor of Science degree in Business Information Systems from the University of Massachusetts, and his master’s in Software Engineering from Brandeis University. He currently lives in Bourne, MA.
