As we’ve come to expect during every holiday season, the Fall River Salvation Army is holding an annual turkey and food drive in support of those less fortunate in our local community.  And, as we’ve come to expect in year’s past, RDA Insurance and Mechanics Cooperative Bank have committed their support to making this drive a huge success!

Jason Rua, President& CEO of RDA Insurance started the process by soliciting food and turkey donations at his Fall River location.  As the food donations rolled in, and the frozen turkey’s started to pile up, Mechanics Cooperative Bank hopped on board to provide a another boost and ensure a successful drive.  With a $1,000 contribution to the Fall River Salvation Army, Mechanics Cooperative Bank has also helped put a complete Thanksgiving dinner on the table for many local families in need.

President and CEO of Mechanics Cooperative Bank commented “on how important the Thanksgiving holiday is to me and my family, and the families of our employees.  We feel any support to help the less fortunate have a great holiday; with great food, great friends and family; is a cause worth supporting.  I want to thank Jason Rua for taking the lead to make this drive a huge success and Mechanics Cooperative Bank is more than proud to be involved.”

Turkey and food donations can be made at the Fall River Salvation Army located at 290 Bedford St, Fall River or at RDA Insurance in Fall River at 155 North Main St, Fall River through November 22nd. Monetary donations are accepted at any time.

President of RDA Insurance talked about “the importance of giving back during this time of year. RDA Insurance has been in Fall River for 5 years and is proud to support the community we call home.  As business leaders in Fall River, we feel it is our responsibility to contribute to events like this food drive; it’s our way of saying thank you and making the Thanksgiving holiday a little brighter for those less fortunate.”

Major Elmer Deming from the Salvation Army stated “how wonderful it is to have organizations like RDA Insurance and Mechanics Cooperative Bank in the Fall River Community.  Jason Rua and Joseph Baptista have once again committed and contributed when the need is greatest.  And the contribution is not just based on food or monetary donations – the real gift is the opportunity these families will now have to sit, and enjoy time with family and friends during the Thanksgiving holiday. I would like to thank them personally and also thank them on behalf of the many, many needy families that will enjoy a traditional Thanksgiving dinner this year.  These two organizations help create the foundation of a solid community, and more thankful, we could not be.”
