Fall River, MA:  Mechanics Cooperative Bank, and President and CEO Joseph T. Baptista Jr., are proud to donate $13,000 in support of the Fall River Boys and Girls Club.  This donation, in sponsorship of the Club’s Annual Gala and Golf Tournament, directly supported the many youth programs offered through the Fall River Boys & Girls Club.

Their mission is to enable youth to reach their full potential as responsible, caring and productive citizens and believe that every child in our community should have a safe place to learn and play, where caring adults supervise, guide and lead them to adulthood. The Fall River Boys & Girls Club is exactly that place. They aim for all of their members to complete high school and have access to a post-secondary education. In partnership with our community, and organizations like Mechanics Cooperative Bank, we will continue to improve the quality of life in our community and provide increased opportunity of success for their members.

The Fall River Boys & Girls Club, and their dedicated staff, will continue their commitment to their members by:

  • Providing a safe place to play, discover, learn, serve and dream.
  • Graduating 100% of our members from high school and assisting with college awareness, access and success.
  • Modeling responsible, caring and productive behavior.
  • Efficiently using our resources (both human and capital) to be outstanding stewards of the public trust.

“Without this financial support and the commitment of local businesses like Mechanics Cooperative Bank, their President Joseph T. Baptista Jr. and their Executive Vice President, Deborah A. Grimes (who is also a Board member of the Fall River Boys and Girls Club), many local school children would not get the opportunity to join the Club – and get the support they desperately need,” said Peter McCarthy, Executive Director of the Fall River Boys & Girls Club.  “We could not be more thankful to have a great local partner like Mechanics Cooperative Bank and cannot thank them enough for this sponsorship at such an important time of year.”

Deborah A. Grimes, Executive Vice President of Mechanics Cooperative Bank and Fall River Boys & Girls Club Board Member commented on how, “The Fall River Boys & Girls Club has long been a vital resource to the City of Fall River and its young residents – At Mechanics Cooperative Bank we are proud corporate supporters, and are committed to continuing this support for many years to come.  I sit on this Board and dedicate my personal time because I believe in the mission of the Club.  I believe in the staff.  And I am proud to work for a Bank that feels the same way.”
